A wedding in the family is one of the biggest events in the family and requires a lot of planning and team work. You can’t handle each and everything on your own. You need help of family members, relatives and at times help of friends to avoid any glitches in the preparation. But, under pressure of preparation and planning we make some mistakes which we could easily avoid if we pay little attention to things. You are supposed to plan various things like shopping, gifts, printing of cards, booking wedding venue and finalizing the menu, etc. All these things require a lot of planning and coordination. In such a hectic situation, there are chances that you will forget something or skip something. We are here sharing some of the common mistakes most of us usually make while planning for wedding.

Not fixing a budget: The first thing you should do while you start planning for your wedding arrangements is fixing the budget. Fixing the overall budget and segmenting the budget is very important. It is important that you fix the budget for everything, be it for shopping, venue, gifts and any other thing. It will help you in getting the overall spending limit and estimating the things in advance. If you will not fix a budget in advance, there are high chances that you end up shedding more money than your actual budget in making all the arrangements.

Finalizing vendor on the basis of quotes: This is another mistake which one should avoid. Asking the price quotes from different vendors is a good move to begin with, but fixing someone on the basis of low quotes is not the right decision. You never want to face any negative comment in wedding planning. You always want everything to be the best for that day. Before finalizing any vendor, it is important to see their previous work. If the vendor has any website, then don’t forget to check the details and see the comments on it.

Not making the guest list properly: Always calculate the guests well. To plan everything well in advance it is important that you make a proper guest list and arrange everything accordingly. Making last minute changes in the list can affect all the arrangements. Make sure that you work upon 10% minus or plus guest list for the wedding day. Make all the arrangements accordingly and instruct your vendor and caterer to make the arrangements as per the list.

Taking too many opinions: It is good to take the second opinion if you are confused, but it is not a wise idea to discuss the same thing with everyone.  The more you discuss, the more you will get confused. Involve your close family members and friends in important decisions. It will help in making the right decision and perfect choices better.

Too high expectations: If you are keeping your expectation too high, it might be you will feel disappointed if you see even a little flaw in the arrangement. It is better to keep your expectations at ground level and get yourself involved in most of the planning part. Don’t expect that your decorator will make the replica of the stage or other things, which you saw in some movie or at some else’s wedding. Let him use his creativity at the best.

Not instructing vendor well: After hiring a wedding planner or vendor, we think that he/she will take care of everything. This is totally wrong. You are the right one who knows your requirements well. No one else could tell the vendor what you want or don’t want in your wedding venue or in food menu or something else. So, give proper instructions to the vendors to avoid any confusion in the expectation and delivery.
